ipNIIF Institute offers IPv4 as well as IPv6 registration possibility for NIIF/HUNGARNET member institutions.

Besides address domain registration, NIIF also offers primary and, on demand, secondary reverse resolution services for the registered address domains.

Practical information related to IPv4 address domain registration:

  • Only NIIF/HUNGARNET member institutions may apply for an address domain.
  • The registration form needs to be completed and sent to either hostmaster@niif.hu in e-mail, or +36 1 3506750 in fax, or in this webform or NIIF Intézet, 1396 Budapest 62 Pf. 498 via courier.
  • For the sake of proper IPv4 address domain registration the registrant (or NIIF) should operate the address domain's reverse DNS.
  • Data given at registration will also be enrolled to the RIPE database.

Practical information related to IPv6 address domain registration:

  • A HUNGARNET member institution may apply for a /48 domain out of the 2001:0738::/32 address domain. Larger address domains can be registered only in special cases. A /48 subdomain allows setting up 65536 subnets, thus it is unnecessary to use IP-NAT at member institutions.
  • The registration form needs to be completed, signed and either sent to NIIF Intézet, 1396 Budapest 62 Pf. 498 via courier, or taken into NIIF secretariat, NIIF Intézet, H-1132 Budapest, Victor Hugo u. 18-22.
  • For the sake of proper IPv6 address domain registration the registrant (or NIIF) should operate the address domain's reverse DNS.
  • Data given at registration will also be enrolled to the RIPE database.
